Montgomery Theater brings back the ‘70’s with the charming and witty musical “I Love My Wife” For Immediate Release: November 10, 2009
A musical that takes place at Christmas in Trenton? Yes… and a delightfully funny one, too! Set in the 1970’s, when everyone thought everyone was “doing it” with everyone else, I Love My Wife makes us laugh as we see that not everybody joined the sexual revolution – no matter how hard they tried! Two friends, Wally and Alvin, decide to manipulate their wives, Monica and Cleo, into a ménage a quatre on Christmas Eve. But of course, not all goes as planned. Needless to say, this leads to a charmingly energetic escapade – a “twinkling piece of innocent bawdry” according to Time Magazine. Winner of 2 Tony Awards and 4 Drama Desk awards, this gem of a musical gives us some of Cy Coleman’s best songs, each one written in a delightfully different style – from honky tonk to ballad to pure Broadway glitz. Michael Stewart’s lyrics sparkle with wit in every line, and his book satirizes all of those 1970’s stereotypes – much to our amusement. Directed by Tom Quinn and musically directed by Christopher Tolomeo, who also performs, I Love My Wife will put a smile on your face that will last all through the holiday season! I Love My Wife runs through December 5th at Montgomery Theater, 124 Main Street, Souderton, PA. Press Opening is Friday, September 11th at 8pm.
