Bessie lives in Florida where she cares for her aunt and ailing father, Marvin. Without warning, Bessie learns that she herself is seriously ill and that she must contact her long-estranged sister, Lee, to undergo testing with the hope that she can save her life. Long-buried recriminations come to the surface even as love slowly overwhelms the sisters. As they come to terms with one another, they realize the joys that circumstance and stress had previously led them to overlook. With unflinching truth-and as much humor as they can muster-the sisters work to rebuild their family and re-define themselves.
