CAST FROM SECOND CITY’s CITY OF NUTTERLY LOVE: FUNNY AS BELL JUDGES PUNCHLINE CONTEST HOSTED BY LOCAL CELEBRITY ON JULY 17 AT LIBERTY PLACE

For Immediate Release: July 6, 2009
Media Contact: Deborah Fleischman, Philadelphia Theatre Company, 215.735.7356

Philadelphia Theatre Company hosts a ONE-TWO PUNCHLINE contest on Friday, July 17 from noon-2:00 PM in the Rotunda at Liberty Place. Participants have one minute to make two judges laugh with borrowed or original material.

Contestants will be judged by members of Chicago’s famed Second City comedy troupe who are appearing in Philadelphia in City Of Nutterly Love: Funny As Bell, a co-production of Philadelphia Theatre Company and The Second City, running July 8-26 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. The winner will have a chance to be featured in an improv scene with the cast during a performance of the show, the week of July 21-26.

ONE-TWO PUNCHLINE contest will be emceed by WYSP’s funny man, Danny Bonaduce.

City Of Nutterly Love: Funny As Bell, featuring Philadelphia-centric sketch comedy, songs, and improvisation, reflects Philadelphia in all its diversity, complexity and hilarity. The six-member cast combines three performers from Chicago and three performers from Philadelphia in a hilarious spoof of all things “Philadelphia” that’s sure to ring (crack?) your bell. From Mummers to Nutter, Betsy Ross to Andy Reid, the Liberty Bell to libations at the Bishop’s Collar – nothing is too sacred in this one-of-a-kind comedy revue.

To register for the ONE-TWO PUNCHLINE contest, call 215-735-0906. For tickets and information on City Of Nutterly Love: Funny As Bell call 215-985-0420 or PhiladelphiaTheatreCompany.org.
