Bridge Players Theatre Company Proudly Presents Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare For Immediate Release: March 27, 2009
Bridge Players Theatre Company is proud to announce its annual dessert theatre production featuring a modern adaptation of
Shakespeare's comedy, Much Ado About Nothing. The play is staged in a mob family's Chicago bar during the early 1960s. According to director Lou DiPilla, the use of a modern venue allows the audience to better visualize and understand the richness of Shakespeare's masterpiece without being encumbered by the period costumes, mannerisms and social concepts of the Elizabethan era. The story line-two rival families trying to inflict mischief on each other-fits the "Chicago mob family" setting perfectly. "The play offers many comedic moments, including mistaken identities, bumbling policemen, clever word play and physical comedy," says DiPilla. The audience will also enjoy an array of delectable desserts and beverage during intermission, all included in the price of admission. The cast features talented actors from South Jersey and Pennsylvania, including Andrea Wagner of Mt. Laurel, NJ as Beatrice, Dan Buck of Philadelphia, PA as Benedick, Tim Kirk of Delran, NJ as Borachio, Joseph Ahmed of Pennsauken, NJ and Tyler Riley of Burlington Township, NJ portraying Claudio, Fontaine Gutierrez of Palmyra, NJ as Hero, Elliot Simmons of Philadelphia, PA as Don Pedro, Dave Piltz of Bristol, PA as Friar Frances, Joe Mattern of Bensalem, PA as Dogberry, Joe Sweeney of West Deptford, NJ as Leonato and Gina Petti of Delran, NJ as Margaret.
