Bring your Valentine to Explore Andrew Lloyd Webber's Aspects of Love at Plays & Players For Immediate Release: January 30, 2008
Just in time for the most romantic holiday of the year, Plays & Players in Philadelphia has mounted a new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s bold and ambitious “chamber” musical, “Aspects of Love” Charting the shifting alliances of six lovers across three generations, “Aspects of Love” moves smoothly from the sophisticated excitement of Paris to the pastoral beauty of the French countryside, exploring nothing less than the complete landscape of the human heart. Critics hailed the 1989 London production, featuring a small musical ensemble and a lush through composed score, as a charming and witty counterpoint to Lloyd Webber’s larger international hits : “Jesus Christ Superstar, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, "Evita”, “Cats” and “Phantom of the Opera.” The score, which includes the international hit “Love Changes Everything”, contains some of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most humane and accomplished writing. “Aspects of Love” will be directed, designed and choreographed by Lance Moore, who has been responsible for the brilliant, revisionist productions of “The King and I” & “Cabaret” recently presented at Plays & Players. The talented cast of actors from around the Philadelphia - New Jersey metropolitan area will include Theresa Leahy as Rose, Ken Sandberg as Alex and John D’Alonza as George, the three “aspects” of the poignant central love triangle. Others in the large cast include Jen Rosario-Kent, Andrew Jara, Diane Davis, Diana Carino, Adrienne Fehringer, Brent Knobloch, Amy Bartlett and Marie Eife. “Aspects of Love” can be enjoyed during twelve performances from February 7th through 23rd. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM, with 3PM matinees on February 10th and 17th. Tickets are $20 purchased online at www.playsandplayers.org or $25 at the door.
