Nice People Theatre Company Holds 2nd Bi-Annual "Nice People Idol" Fundraiser Event

For Immediate Release: November 5, 2007
Media Contact: Nicole Blicher, Nice People Theatre Company, 267.909.3309

Nice People Theatre Company (NPTC) holds their second bi-annual fundraiser event, ‘Nice People Idol’, Friday, December 7, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Philadelphia Ethical Society, 1906 Rittenhouse Square, Center City. Tickets cost $20 and are available by going to www.nicepeopletheatre.org or at the door.

At this event, guests will enjoy performances by some of Philadelphia’s hottest local singing talent all vying for the title of ‘Nice People Idol’. Judges will critique the performances and the audience will vote for the winner who will receive a $100 cash prize and tickets to NPTC’s spring musical, Have a Nice Life by Conor Mitchell. Judges for the evening are Philadelphia casting and artistic directors, Lois Kitz (Philadelphia Theatre Company), Susan Quinn (Walnut Street Theatre), and Peter Reynolds (Director of Musical Theatre, Temple University)].

Guests will also be privy to an impressive silent auction which will feature items such as a silver, gold and diamond Lagos ring valued at $750, a day of beauty at OMG salon, VIP Philly’s and 76ers tickets, a one night hotel stay at the Sofitel, Philadelphia, a $200 gift certificate to Steven Starr restaurants, and more. All of these items are handpicked and generously donated to make fantastic holiday gifts for your friends and family.

Entry to the event also includes food, wine, beer and soft drinks, complements of Whole Foods, Tartes Bakery, Valentino on the Square, and more. What’s more, the evening will feature a guest star performance by Megan Mazaika, winner of the first Nice People Idol Competition.

“We enjoyed such success with our inaugural Idol Fundraiser last May and people had such a fantastic time that they were asking if we would hold more than one a year.” said Blicher. “This year we have an equally if not more impressive line-up of singers and we couldn’t have asked for a better group of judges to make this evening a smashing good time.”

Added White, “Fundraisers are integral to the success of any theatre company as ticket sales only account for a small percentage of a company’s budget. The money raised at ‘Nice People Idol’ will be immediately converted into actor/designer salaries, sets, postcards, space rental, the list goes on and on.”
