GEEK FIGHT is the newest cabaret-creation and fundraiser from Tribe of Fools. Philadelphia actor and veteran MC Greg Giovanni will host geek Fight. The cabaret will include Heavy Metal Dance Fag parts 1 and 2, songs by singer songwriter Janice Rowland, Preston Fox of Root of the Sick, and solo performances by Brad Wrenn, Gwen Rooker, Elisa Lane and Brendon Gawell among others. But the cabaret’s main event comes from contests in geekiness. Cash and Prizes will be awarded for “Geeks on Parade,” a costume contest where you don your geekiest threads. All geeks are welcome from sci-fi geeks, to math geeks to theatre geeks to fantasy geeks. But that’s not all there’s also The Princess Leia Beauty Contest, World Geek Trivia, “The Biggest Geek” Story Contests (answer questions like “What’s the geekiest thing I’ve ever done?” or “When was the moment I realized I was a geek and not just a fan?” or “What have I sacrificed for my geeky indulgences?”) The Safety Dance Dance Off, and finally The Geek Fight itself. Tribe of Fools’ panel of celebrity judges, which is a veritable who’s who of Philadelphia theatre, will judge all of the contests. If you disagree with any of the judges’ decisions you can challenge by taking it to the mat. One person will be named Best All Around Geek by defending their title against any runners-up in an all out oil wrestling match. Tribe of Fools’ celebrity judges will be Robert Smythe of Mum Puppet Theatre, Gigi Naglack of Flashpoint Theatre Company, Bryan Clark of Theatre Exile, Erin Reilly of Theatre Horizon, Bill Felty of The Wilma and Philadelphia Theatre Workshop, Lane Savadove of EgoPo Productions, and Lee Etzold of New Paradise Laboratories and My Kinda Pony. Geek Fight is a fundraiser for Tribe of Fools’ 2007 Philly Fringe production “Echo.” For more information visit, www.myspace.com/tribeoffools.
