Melissa Manchester Musical Rounds Out Season at Act II Playhouse

For Immediate Release: April 23, 2007
Media Contact: Ted Taylor, Act II Playhouse, 215.576.7212

“I Sent a Letter to My Love” book and lyrics by Jeffrey Sweet, music by Melissa Manchester will be the Fifth and final play of the 2006-07 season at Act II Playhouse. The run begins with previews on May 11 and continues until June 10.

This soul-stirring musical is set in 1955. Amy (Therese Walden) places a correspondence ad on a whim, but her notion of romance backfires when her wheel-chair bound brother Stan (Dan Schiff) is her only respondent. Obviously neither one suspects it is the other. Just when all seems to get out of hand, longing, love and loyalty conspire to open up new doors. The play also stars Barbara McCulloh as Gwen, Michelle Horman as Miss Morgan and Jon Reinhold as Jimmy. Directing will be Frank Anzalone and Musical Director is Collin Maier.

Prior to the previews, there will be a dress rehearsal open to the community benefiting The Ambler Main Street organization on May 10. Opening night is May 18, followed by a reception nearby at Agavé Grille in Ambler. Tickets are on sale at the box office, 56 East Butler Avenue, Ambler, PA, online at www.act2.org, or by calling 215-654-0200.

Tickets are priced at $25-to-$40 depending on the performances. Group discounts are available for parties as small as 10. For more information about group sales and season tickets for 2007-08, call the Act II Playhouse Box Office at 215-654-0200.
