The Shanachie Irish Pub & Restaurant located at 111 East Butler Avenue, Ambler, has partnered with its neighbor, the ACT II Playhouse for a unique dining and theatre experience for two special evenings during the run of its current show, Scotland Road.
Shanachie Executive Chef Brian Duffy will recreate many of the items served at the last dinner on the Titanic, April 14, 1912. This dining experience is inspired by the play Scotland Road by Jeffrey Hatcher. The show at Act II Playhouse is a fascinating story with possible links to the sinking of The Titanic. It’s the 1990’s…a woman is rescued from the North Atlantic wearing 1900’s clothing and she will say only one word: Titanic. No one can believe her story but, by the play’s end, everyone’s identity will be in question.
“This was a fun menu to recreate,” said Chef Duffy. The original 1912 menu consisted of eleven-courses; the Shanachie menu offers four courses and features dishes from the original menu. “The menu and dining experience will set the mood for the evening for the theater goers who will enjoy a fabulous dinner and then walk across the street to the theater for an 8p.m. curtain,” he added.
The four-course menu includes: a first course of Consommé Olga or cream of barley, followed by a second course of a choice of poached salmon with mousseline sauce, sautéed chicken Lyonnaise, calvados-glazed roast duckling or roast sirloin of beef forestiere. The third course features a cold asparagus salad with champagne-saffron vinaigrette. The fourth and final course is a Waldorf pudding for dessert.
The special dinner event will take place on Friday, February 9 and Friday, February 16. Reservations for the “Taste of Titanic” can be made at the time tickets are purchased to Scotland Road.
Dinner is being offered at $24.95 per person with purchase of one ticket per person to the ACT II Playhouse production of SCOTLAND ROAD on either Friday February 9 or 16. Ticket price is $40 and are on sale now. Season ticket holders and single ticket holders may choose to attend the dinner at the full price of $34.95per person.
