City Theater Company Tackles Six Of The World’s Best Contemporary Playwrights - All In One Show!!! Delaware’s Hip Off-Broadway Theater presents the passionate Love’s Fire For Immediate Release: January 20, 2006 City Theater Company, best known for such cutting edge productions as Batboy: The Musical, Barrymoore award winning Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and the The Rocky Horror Show is proud to present it’s latest envelope pusher, Love’s Fire, directed by Michael Gray, City Theater Company’s artistic director and one of its founding members. First commissioned by the Acting Company in 1998, Love’s Fire is six short plays, each based on a Shakespearean sonnet, by six of the world’s hottest contemporary playwrights—Eric Bogosian, William Finn, John Guare, Tony Kushner, Marsha Norman, and Wendy Wasserstein. These award-winning playwrights use Shakespeare’s timeless poetry of romantic and sexual love as their springboards, however, the end result is anything but Elizabethan. Gone are the tights, period costumes, and archaic language. These plays are at times hilarious, at times moving, but always completely modern and engaging. This show, about the triumphs and tragedies of the heart, has the most universal of all themes—love. Love’s Fire, with it’s cast of nine actors (who in the course of the two-hour show play over forty characters), is a modern tribute to the greatest love poetry of all time. On February 17, join the cast and crew for a special opening night reception at National Restaurant & Lounge following the show. February 18 will be “Young Professionals Night”, also with a special reception following the performance. Members of Wilmington’s GLBT community are invited to come early for the February 24 performance for our Nite Out pre-show wine and cheese hour. Love’s Fire runs February 17, 18, 24, 25, March 3, 4, 10 & 11 at 8pm, February 26 & March 9 at 7:30pm, March 5 at 3pm, and March 11 at 2pm at the Baby Grand Theater. Tickets are $25 general admission, $18 for matinees. Group rates are available. Tickets are available NOW by calling the Grand Opera House box office at 1-800-37-GRAND.
