Madhouse Theater Company presents... The Late Nite Snack: Theater Serials for all of 2006!

For Immediate Release: January 2, 2006
Media Contact: John Stanton, Madhouse Theater Company, 215.260.4968

Madhouse Theater Company stretches their late night muscles throughout all of 2006! Madhouse is proud to present the city of Philadelphia’s first ever serialized theater series! This endeavor will begin at The Playground in the Adrienne Theatre (2030 Sansom Street) on Friday, January 27th at 11pm and proceed at 11pm the last Friday of each month throughout 2006. Madhouse has already planned out the serial through June and will continue through December. Tickets are only $10!

Serial isn’t just for breakfast anymore!

Following close on the heels of its successful ’04-’05 run of their first late night show Saturday Night Special, Madhouse will be remounting John Stanton’s Philly Fringe hit, Head Case, as the lead serial of the Late Nite Snack.. Head Case follows the adventures of a huge-headed boy and his fast food worker mom as he tries to make in show biz. The beer guzzling, blue collar men in Happy Hour, Lurleen the White Trash Lolita, and our super hero adventure series, Daily Comics, are a few of the cornucopia of stories and lunatic characters audiences will meet over the course of 2006. Like Saturday Night Special, The Late Nite Snack will include original work by writers from all over the country. All stories will be recapped at the beginning of the show each month. Madhouse will also be collaborating with the exciting and innovative music group, 722, who will feature new, original music written specifically for the Late Nite Snack.

Madhouse co-Artistic Directors Karen DiLossi and John Stanton assembled a core group of young, up-and-coming directors and actors to work through the season. DiLossi strongly feels, “Audiences will go wild following these crazy characters over the course of the year. John and I really wanted to produce something that has never been done in the city and will give Philadelphians a new alternative to start their weekend!” Talking of the show’s origination, DiLossi says, “Joe Koroly approached John Stanton with this fantastic idea about a year ago and Madhouse ran with it.” Madhouse Theater Company, through their late night series, has created a new genre of raw comedy for those not ready for prime time theatre.
