Pete 'N' Keely is third play in Act II 2005-06 Season For Immediate Release: December 14, 2005 The third play of the Act II Playhouse 2005-06 season will be Pete ‘n’ Keely , a comedy based on the fictional network TV reunion of “America’s Swinging Sweethearts”. The play, by James Hendman, opens with preview performances January 6-12 (opening night is January 13) and runs through February 5. The 2005-06 season is sponsored by Sunrise Assisted Living of Dresher, PA. The time is 1968. Pete Bartel and Keely Stevens, a combination of Steve and Eydie, Sonny and Cher, with a touch of Lucy and Desi, were a hugely popular singing duo from the late 50’s and early 60’s. Now we tune in to NBC as America’s swinging sweethearts reunite for a live television special re-living their illustrious musical career. The only catch is that they haven’t spoken to each other since their breakup at Caesar’s Palace five years ago. This production features Denise Whelan as Keely and Todd Waddington as Pete. Ken Marini is the director. All weekday performances (except opening night which begins at 7 PM) will begin at 8 PM; the Sunday performances are at 2 PM. There will be Wednesday matinees on January 18 and February 1 at 2 PM. There will be Tuesday performances on January 10 and 24 (normally the theatre is dark on Mondays and Tuesdays). For tickets call the playhouse at 215-654-0200 or you may purchase them at the box office at 56 East Butler Avenue in Ambler, PA. Prices range from $20-to-$32 depending on the performance.
