Organization Description

SOI is a non-profit, professional children theater for the youngest audiences that produces and performs original musical plays and assemblies for pre-K through 5th grade children, and special needs children and adults. Since 1990 Stages of Imagination has created 6 full length (60-70 minutes) "Stages' Spectacular Plays" with 8-10 live actors to be enjoyed in the theater or as an assembly. "Stages' Thimble Theatricals" (35-40 minutes) are available only for assemblies. Each musical play is rich in themes suitable for student level discussion such as tolerance, cooperation, respect, honesty, courage, goal-setting, anger management, conflict resolution and many more. A 35 minute assembly, "Forever Friends" developed in conjunction with dieticians from the Philadelphia School District, is about MyPyramid and healthy eating. Stages of Imagination provides teachers with Study Guides prepared by Dr. James Comey, recently retired from Wallingford-Swarthmore School District and activity packets for the students.

To provide children and special needs teens and adults with live theater experience through original, musical plays that explore self-image and the value of the individual. And, to engender appreciation of theater as an art form that enriches the cultural opportunities of our audience.
