Flashpoint Theatre Company was founded in 2003 by five graduates of the Theatre Arts program at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. Flashpoint produces 3 mainstage productions at the Second Stage at the Adrienne each year; past productions have included the Philadelphia premieres of works by Keith Bunin, Caryl Churchill, Gina Gionfriddo, Neil LaBute, Wendy MacLeod, and local playwright Tim Appignani. Since its inaugural season, Flashpoint has also produced David Sedaris's The Santaland Diaries as a holiday treat for the Philadelphia community. Flashpoint expanded its staff in 2006 to take on an Outreach Coordinator; Flashpoint's outreach efforts have included providing tickets to disadvantaged groups through ArtReach and collecting donations for the Renfrew Center Foundation, Covenant House, PhilAbundance, and the American Red Cross.
