Exclamation Theater was founded in 1997 to explore and expand human potential and knowledge, and arrive at cultural understanding and expression through the high quality production of literature-in-performance. From its inception, the Company has strived to serve as a unique, vital, and welcoming educational, artistic, and cultural center, and a resource for the greater community. It has encouraged a physical and improvisational rehearsal process, predicated on the ensemble workshop format, and intending to re-define and re-vivify theatrical experience, rendering theater exhilarating, inspirational, and accessible. Among the objectives has been to create and present work that challenges, excites, and satisfies theater audiences, coevally offering opportunities to develop performance and technical support skills to students of all ages. Closely associated with the online service, The Green Room at the New Globe, Exclamation Theater also fosters new work of literary merit by emerging playwrights. Through research, scholarship, training, and production, the Company prepares future artists, dramatists, and teachers. Hence, the training afforded by the Company consists of scene design and construction, costume, lighting and sound, acting, directing, playwriting, theater management, and theater history and literature. Taken very seriously is the nurturing of creativity and collaboration, and the enhancement of aesthetic appreciation.
