Organization Description

Commonwealth Classic Theatre Company (CCTC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in Pennsylvania in 2005, was founded by a group of theatre artists and administrators led by Producing Artistic Director Mary Ann Baldwin. CCTC is dedicated to the principle that theatre is a vital component in a civil society. CCTC seeks to add to, and complement, the wide variety of exciting and valuable work in Philadelphia by offering the public increased accessibility to professional theatre. We do this with our Free Theatre in the Parks program which brings, free to the public, a summer production to the parks of the 5-county communities of Philadelphia. In addition to our summer programming, CCTC's goal is to produce at least one financially accessible production each year in a more traditional 4-wall venue along with a number of readings and workshops throughout the Philadelphia area.

CCTC's mission is to artistically serve the "common good" by producing professional theatre with classic and contemporary works that bear witness to the rich variety and commonality of human experience and to enhance the appreciation of theatre as a humanizing art form through live performances, workshops, readings and educational programs for the community.
