Organization Description

Allentown Public Theatre was founded in August 2008 with a mission to create an ensemble of professional actors who will perform relevant and accessible theatre for the public and help revitalize downtown Allentown through the arts. Planned programming includes:
· A bilingual Youth and Culture theatre series designed as outreach to Allentown’s diverse community.
· Staged musicals, comedies and dramas offered downtown and in Allentown’s beautiful parks.
· Workshops for community members interested in learning more about the performing arts.

“We strive for an arts community where our performing artists, trained here in the Valley, aren’t forced to continually leave our community in order to work. A successful artistic community deserves a successful professional theatre.” - Joshua Neth, Artistic Director, Allentown Public Theatre.

Allentown Public Theatre was established to create theatrical productions of new and classic plays. It will encourage the tradition of theatre artists living and performing in the city of Allentown by creating a professional resident acting ensemble. APT will offer internships to local theatre arts students, and it will support emerging playwrights with performance of their work.
