For more than six decades, gifted singers have come from throughout the world to seek the exceptional guidance and training that The Academy of Vocal Arts offers. Admission into AVA's four-year program is highly competitive, with approximately 30 singers enrolled in any given year. Those who are accepted are immersed in an intensive performance program led by some of the most dedicated and inspired teachers and creative artists in the world of opera. The AVA Opera Theater produces up to four opera productions each year, fully staged in the original language with English supertitles, performed with orchestra at theaters throughout Greater Philadelphia, including its own Helen Corning Warden Theater at 1920 Spruce Street, the Kimmel Center, and regional theaters in Bucks County, the Main Line and South Jersey. AVA opera productions vary from the familiar to the rarely performed and feature dynamic and cohesive performances by young opera stars who represent the bright future of opera.
