Children's Musical Theater Director

We are currently hiring a children's Musical Theater Director for our Marlton, NJ location.

(Posted: 2/1/12) MTC's Children's Musical Theater program involves up to 70 children at each MTC location. You will be directing small casts of elementary-school age children (ages 5-7 and 7-11, up to 12 children per cast). Rehearsals are held weekdays after school and on Saturday mornings. During the season, you will be providing additional coaching sessions to your students. Performances are held at the end of each season.

This position also includes administrative responsibilities such as emailing students with weekly assignments, following up with parents as to student progress, and participating in weekly planning meetings.

Schedule:
  • Administrative responsibilities can be fulfilled outside of class times.
  • Classes and performances are held Mondays through Wednesdays from 4 PM - 7 PM, and Saturdays from 11 AM - Noon. Actual hours depend on class enrollment and may vary from season to season.
  • Private Acting Lessons will be held Mondays through Wednesdays from 6 PM - 8 PM.
  • During the Summer, several 1-week theater camps run Monday-Friday, 9 AM - 4 PM.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • You are paid as a W2 payroll employee at a base rate of $25/hour, plus a $2.50/hour (10%) bonus paid monthly to your personal tax-deferred IRA account at Fidelity Investments (begins in your 7th full month). IRA savings can be withdrawn penalty-free for higher education, first-time home purchase, retirement, and other purposes in accordance with IRS rules.
  • Dental Insurance: We provide you with free Dental Insurance through (United Concordia DHMO Plus), which provides free in-network exams, amalgam fillings, and other common dental services. (Eligibility: 4th full month, 12 hours/week.)

 

Requirements:

  • College degree in theater
  • Long-term residency in the local area
  • Commitment to reliable attendance throughout the school year (no outside conflicts).
  • Availability to begin training now for our spring term
