(Posted: 9/06/2011) Plays & Players seeks actress, age 18-25, to play the fantastic lead role of Penny, a 13 year old girl with an American soldier who went awol from serving in Iraq hiding out in her body, and actor, 25-35, to play Sarge, a masculine drill sergeant type who keeps giving him orders in the upcoming World Premiere of Pardon My Invasion by local playwright Joy Cutler, directed by Cara Blouin. The play runs November 3-20 in the Third Floor Studio and is the premier production of the 100th Anniversary Season. Preliminary auditions are Saturday, Sept. 10, 9:30-11:30am but please apply even if unable to attend. Non-union only, small stipend.

Joy Cutler has worked as a playwright and performer with the San Francisco performance ensemble, Elbows Akimbo and with Berlin theater companies, The Berlin Playactors and Out To Lunch Theater Group. She moved to Philadelphia in 2007, where her short plays, The Frogg Prince, The Craving, and The Stormy Hanky were performed in Plays & Players' 2009, 2010, and 2011 Philadelphia Bake-Off and New Play Festival (now PIFA New Play Festival).

Cara Blouin directed the World Premiere of Simulations last season at Plays & Players, and recently directed Dan Rottenberg is Thinking About Raping You for  Forearmed Productions.
