(Posted 3/2/2011) Pig Iron Theatre Company is a non-profit theatre ensemble whose mission is the creation and presentation of unconventional ensemble-based performance work. In October 2011, the scope of our operations will expand to include the Pig Iron School for Advanced Performance Training (APT), a two-year postgraduate program for actors and directors, spearheaded by APT Director (and Pig Iron co-founder) Quinn Bauriedel.
The APT Operations Manager will be the lead administrator of the Pig Iron School for Advanced Performance Training, tasked with overseeing the admissions process, scheduling, student tracking, licensing and accreditation, financial planning, and internal communications. This position will report to the APT School Director on matters relating to admissions, scheduling, and faculty relations, and to Pig Iron’s Managing Director on matters related to finance and human resources. The position will oversee work-study students and work collaboratively with the administrative staff of Pig Iron Theatre Company.
The Operations Manager will play a central role in the launch of the Pig Iron School for Advanced Performance Training, which will be one of only a handful of comprehensive training programs in physical theatre in the world. As the primary non-faculty contact with APT’s classes of 15-25 students, the Operations Manager will help to define the student experience of talented young artists from across the globe.
Required skills and experience:
· Experience in implementing planned timelines to achieve program goals.
· Experience in leveraging the experience of others and applying it to internal systems and procedures
· Demonstrated ability to start something from scratch
· Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, as part of a team
· Experience in project/program management, including creation of project plans, budgets, and timelines.
Preferred skills and experience:
· Experience as primary overseer of program budget, with ability to think creatively about managing expenses and making financial decisions
· Ability to manage admissions and financial aid processes
· Experience in setting up and maintaining administrative systems
· Experience in collecting payment, issuing invoices, and developing payment plans.
· Ability to negotiate contracts and agreements
· Experience in managing and overseeing the work of others.
· Proven skill in data management with ability to leverage database for marketing needs.
Education requirements: Candidates must have a B.A. A Master’s in Arts Administration or Educational Administration is preferred, or over five years working in a related field.
